Description
Sidcup cinema, library and residential development is a flagship project for the London Borough of Bexley and is an integral part of the regeneration plans for Sidcup. The proposed development forms part of the Development and Cultural programme for Bexley.
The building proposals provide a café and library at ground floor level with a 3-screen cinema on the first floor plus a 4th flexible space which can also be utilised for media events. Part of the mixed development proposals includes the construction of 9No further residential units. The building is fully accessible to the commercial and residential areas.
The digital cinema spaces and café area are designed for 3rd party operation with the overall design of the building configured to meet the differing occupancies as well as occupancy flow, management, security and access. The library encompasses main book storage and access areas as well as children’s zone, study zones, workspace zones and read and relax area.
The cinema spaces are designed to deliver digital cinema in acoustically isolated spaces with fully integrated and individual MEP solutions allowing autonomous sub metered control of each space to suit the different occupancy profiles.
The development has been designed to provide a low energy and sustainable solutions that comply with the requirements of the London Plan 2018 updates as well as the Building Regulation Part L requirements.
